Walman Returns to Wolves

GLENVIEW, Ill. – The Chicago Wolves announced Tuesday that defenseman Jake Walman has been loaned to the club by the St. Louis Blues.

This marks Walman’s second tenure with the Wolves as he joined the organization on an amateur tryout contract near the end of the 2016-17 regular season. The 21-year-old appeared in seven games and tallied three points (2G, A). During the 2017 Calder Cup Playoffs, Walman appeared in eight contests and recorded two goals and one assist.

Selected by the St. Louis Blues in the third round, 82nd overall, in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Walman signed an entry-level contract with the Blues on March 28.

Prior to turning professional, the Toronto native skated three seasons at Providence College. Walman collected 21 goals and 48 assists for 69 points in 107 career games. He was the Friars' top-scoring defenseman during the 2016-17 season with seven goals and 18 assists for 25 points and was named to the Hockey East First All-Star Team.

As a freshman in 2014-15, Walman helped the Friars earn their first NCAA National Championship.

Walman will be with the Wolves as they travel to Cedar Park, Texas, to open the 2017-18 American Hockey League regular season on Friday, Oct. 6, against the Texas Stars.
