Professor Keely | Struggling Artist Prevention Classes
by Professor Keely an Award-Winning Marketer
Detroit, MI, October 16, 2017– Competition in the global market place is difficult for most businesses, especially
small businesses which are defined as having less than 500 employees. According to the Department of Labor and
Small Business Administration (SBA), 8 out of 10 small businesses fail within two years, half in five years and a
third in ten years. But what about artists? That term is actually “starving artists”.
Most artists are primarily focused on what pleases them aesthetically and not interested in the business side of
building a business. While they want a profitable business selling their art, they don’t always have the discipline
to complete a cost breakeven analysis, a product demand life cycle, evaluating the marketing mix or writing
winning prospectus or proposals.
Professor Amy Keely has won an American Marketing Association Award for her campaigns and won multi-million
dollar corporate contracts. She teaches at both business colleges and art schools and has observed that,
“More of my business students need creativity, and more of my art students need business. But of the
two types of students, most that reach out to me for help after the semester are my art students.”
So Professor Keely decided to create a seminar designed to teach artists marketing from purely an artist’s
perspective so they can complete their own Marketing Plan. She also has a follow-up workshop to provide them
with hands-on support if needed. “It is more meaningful if they do the work themselves, but with my oversight”,
said Professor Keely. The seminar packs two hours of artist marketing information with the workshop afterwards.
Professor Keely is also giving away several seats to those artists who cannot afford the cost of the seminar. They
can submit an essay to email@example.com explaining their situation, how the class would benefit their
career and three samples of their artwork. Those selected will also be given a free ticket and allowed to exhibit
their artwork in the gallery prior to the start of the seminar. Deadline for submissions is November 3rd at 9pm.
