On Thursday, October 5, the legend of the Jersey Devil officially came to life when

SCARED IN JERSEY, presented by AmeriHealth New Jersey, kicked off its month-long run at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ, with thousands of guests attending the multi-attraction interactive theatrical haunt throughout its entire debut weekend (October 5-8). The first official person to visit Mother Leeds' Cottage and walk through the Pine Barrens Maze was the Mayor of Holmdel Greg Buontempo and his family, who told News 12 New Jersey, "The town starts to come alive again in the fall when we have haunted hayrides, pumpkin picking, apple picking, and I think this is just a great addition." SCARED IN JERSEY and Blood Drums co-founder Adam Alt added, "Being from New Jersey, we always grew up hearing about the Jersey Devil. After we started doing all the research on the Pine Barrens, all the crazy things that happened in the Pine Barrens, it was a no brainer."

Attendees of SCARED IN JERSEY will experience the birth of the Jersey Devil at Old Mother Leeds' Cottage, an experiential theater style attraction set in 1735, before winding their way through the Pine Barrens Maze, where ghosts of 18thcentury victims and the Jersey Devil himself frighten all that make their way through the winding paths. Guests then head to the Blood Drums Stage for a live performance from Blood Drums by Street Drums Corps, a world-renowned, high energy drum and percussion show founded by Bobby Alt, Adam Alt and Frank Zummo. Scott Cronick from the Press of Atlantic City/At The Shore noted, "Perhaps the most unique aspect of Scared In Jersey is what happens after the scares, a performance of Blood Drums by Street Drum Corps, a trio of awesome percussionists and drummers dressed like punk rockers from the dead who play everything from oil barrels to beer kegs with drum sticks, chainsaws and more, as they accompany a soundtrack of industrial music that you can enjoy while grabbing a beer or sipping on a cocktail" (10/11/17). In addition, all are invited to experience The Devil's Midway, where attendees can buy craft beers, seasonal drinks and food, purchase merchandise and engage with the victims of the Jersey Devil's terrifying chilling attacks. Others that have already come out to experience SCARED IN JERSEY have offered their praise, with Bill Bodkin from The Pop Break saying, "I've gone to a number of mazes, and I have to say this one was extremely entertaining...I commend the small vignettes/scenes that were created, as they weren't your usual maze scares. Lots of thought went into this, and the screams of fright definitely were the pay off for the effort put in by the production team...This is a fun night out. It's a fun atmosphere, and there's some solid scares here, and it'll definitely put you in the mood for Halloween" (10/11/17). Madhouse Magazine's Dennis Morgillo added that SCARED IN JERSEY is "a great fun night out for the whole family or the perfect Date Night on a chilly October evening" (10/10/17).
