Nashville Non-Profit YEAH! To Host Fall Ladies Rock Camp

October 11-14

October 9, 2014

All Proceeds Benefit YEAH!'s Scholarship Program for Southern Girls Rock Camp and Tennessee Teens Rock Camp

YEAH! (Youth Empowerment through Arts and Humanities), the non-profit that brings us Southern Girls Rock Camp and Tennessee Teens Rock Camp each year, will be hosting Ladies Rock Camp for female and gender non-conforming adults over the age of 18 this week, October 11-14. The program is entering its fifth session and is designed to empower adults through music education and community building.

Registration is $150 for the four-day program, available to be paid by 6 monthly payments of $25/month or all at once, and the entire fee acts as a donation towards YEAH!'s Scholarship Program. All proceeds are tax-deductible and go directly to provide music education for diverse groups of youth in Nashville. Participants can choose from guitar, bass, drums, or vocals and will form a band with other adults, write a song, and perform at a showcase. YEAH!’s youth-focused Southern Girls Rock Camp has won “Best Summer Camp” in the Nashville Scene multiple years and is excited to expand its mission of empowerment to a larger age demographic. The program has grown by over 40% since its inception in Fall 2016 and YEAH! is looking to grow it even larger in order to further support its Scholarship Program.

Launched in 2010, YEAH!’s Scholarship Program supplies full or partial funding for over 45% of participating campers for Southern Girls Rock Camp and Tennessee Teens Rock Camp. It has enabled YEAH! to never turn away a potential student due to lack of funds. Through the generous donations of fans, parents, and supporters, the scholarship program raised $14,776 last year alone! Donations are being accepted (and very much appreciated) now HERE.

As a enthusiastic program volunteer, country singer-songwriter Margo Price reflects, “Southern Girls Rock Camp is one of the most amazing programs I have ever been a part of. It was an honor to talk with passionate, young girls and to teach them mic technique, songwriting, and street smarts inside the music business. I wish that there was something like this when I was growing up.”

Music critic Marissa R. Moss adds, “In a world where we're often hard-pressed to find more than a handful of women on a festival roster, on awards show stages, in the bylines of a music magazine or on the radio, it's more important than ever to create an environment like Southern Girls Rock Camp. An environment where girls feel empowered to pursue their dreams in music – and one where skill, practice and passion matters most, not their gender.”
