-- SECOND ANNUAL HALLOWEEN WEEKEND FESTIVAL RETURNING OCTOBER 28 & 29 --
SAN ANTONIO, TX (July 17, 2017) – Mala Luna Music Festival is proud to reveal the full music lineup for its second annual two-day music event, which is set to take place on Saturday and Sunday, October 28 and 29 of Halloween weekend at a brand new location in San Antonio, Texas. Two-day GA and VIP ticket packages are on sale now at www.MalaLunaMusicFestival.com.
This year’s festival will play host to four of today’s biggest hip-hop heavyweights for a truly memorable two-day celebration of music and culture. The 2017 lineup will feature Future, whose Future and HNDRXX albums, which debuted in back-to-back weeks earlier this February, made him the first act in nearly the entire 60+ year history of the Billboard 200 album chart to achieve No. 1 debuts in consecutive weeks. The Grammy Award-winning and oft-labeled “Best Rapper Alive” Lil Wayne is also set to headline the fest alongside Pittsburgh’s own Wiz Khalifa, who himself was recently nominated for Song of the Year at the 2016 Grammy Awards for the worldwide sensation “See You Again,” the music video for which has been named the most viewed video ever on YouTube with nearly 3 billion views. Mala Luna will also welcome to San Antonio one of the most popular groups in the country, Migos, whose sophomore album, Culture, also topped the Billboard 200 chart earlier this year, boosted in large part by the smash hits "Bad and Boujee,” “T-Shirt,” and “Slippery.”
Additional performers set to hit the stage include three of today’s most sought-after international EDM acts – Afrojack, Carnage, and Borgore – all of whom are widely considered to be some of the top DJs in the world, having been named numerous times in recent years to DJ Mag’s annual ranking of Top 100 DJs. Texas’s own rising R&B sensation Khalid will also perform in support of his critically-acclaimed debut album, American Teen, released this past March, along with the multi-talented singer/songwriter/producer Kali Uchisas she preps for the release of her upcoming debut studio album led by the recent single "Tyrant."
Other key performers at the 2017 two-day event include two artists who were recently named to XXL's "2017 Freshman Class," Playboi Carti and Ugly God; as well as an exciting up-and-coming rapper who hails from Miami, Smokepurpp; East Atlanta native and member of J. Cole’s Dreamville Records label group J.I.D, who will perform in support of his latest project, The Never Story, that was released this March to praise from fans and critics alike; and beloved Houston-based rappers Trae Tha Truth and Maxo Kream. Through the festival’s continued efforts to support San Antonio’s up-and-coming music scene, several San Antonio-based artists are also slated to perform, including Xavier Omär, Intre, Bamsworth Belli, Izaq Roland, and Lil Yodaa, as well as Rayne and Isabella Rodriguez of Network for Young Artists.

Mala Luna is also excited to announce that the two-day fest will be moving to Nelson Wolff Stadium, which is located just west of downtown San Antonio at 5757 U.S. Hwy 90 W, San Antonio, TX 78227. This year’s event is relocating due to an expansion of its overall footprint, which will now include a second main stage, as well as in an effort to elevate the overall fan experience for GA and VIP guests. Similar to 2016, ticket-buyers can continue to expect a fun and approachable weekend event featuring high-profile music performances, multiple live art installations, numerous local food vendors and merchants, as well as highly-curated themes and designs, costumes and more, all of which will help pay tribute to the local culture and the community’s annual Diá de los Muertos celebrations.
Additionally, Mala Luna looks forward to continuing its partnership with Network for Young Artists (NYA) again this year, in which the festival will donate a portion of the proceeds from each ticket sold to the San Antonio-based organization. NYA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides affordable classes in voice, guitar, percussion, keyboard, and dance to San Antonio-area youth ages 4-20. Last year’s partnership resulted in a donation of $15,000 to NYA, which directly supported student-driven music education initiatives through the end of 2016 and into 2017. Additionally, two students from the organization will be invited to perform at the festival, similar to last year’s inaugural event. This year’s performers from NYA will be Rayne and Isabella Rodriguez.
GA and VIP passes to the second annual Mala Luna Music Festival are on sale now at www.MalaLunaMusicFestival.com. Two-day GA tickets will be available for purchase for $149 while two-day VIP passes start at $189. Various VIP Packages this year include Black Moon ($189), Harvest Moon ($209), and Fly Me to the Moon ($399), which offers ticket-buyers the most enhanced experience at the festival. Interested patrons are encouraged to act fast as these VIP tickets are in short supply and will continue to increase in price as the event date approaches. Various VIP perks include preferred viewing areas, expedited entry, dedicated bars and restroom facilities, festival merch, and more.
Mala Luna celebrated its inaugural event last Halloween weekend, on October 29 and 30, 2016, near downtown San Antonio, which resulted in a sold-out two-day event with 30,000 fans in attendance throughout the weekend. Music highlights included performances from headliners Travis Scott, Steve Aoki, G-Eazy, and Kaskade, as well as Tory Lanez, Jeezy, Rae Sremmurd, Kehlani, Lil Yachty, Lil Uzi Vert, Jacquees, and more.
The Mala Luna team would like to thank all of the 2017 partners that have helped to make this year’s festival possible, including Univision’s 98.5 The Beat (KBBT-FM), Lone Star Beer, Whataburger, Red Bull, Pepsi, and Electric Sky Wine.
