Fyten Recalled, McKenna Returns and Thompson Released
CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Texas Stars, American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars, announced Friday the team has recalled forward Austin Fyten from their ECHL affiliate, the Idaho Steelheads, and Dallas announced goaltender Mike McKenna has been returned on loan to Texas from the NHL.
Fyten (FIGH-tehn), 26, appeared in one game for the Stars this season and tallied an assist in five games with Idaho. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound forward has played 188 AHL games in his career, including 71 for the Stars, with 46 points (15-31=46).
McKenna, 34, has appeared in 13 games with Texas during the 2017-18 season, earning a 6-5-1 record with an .871 save percentage and a 3.53 goals against average.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound native of St. Louis, Mo. was signed by Dallas as a free agent on July 1, 2017. McKenna was originally selected by Nashville in the sixth round (172nd overall) of the 2002 NHL Draft.
Texas has also released forward Tommy Thompson from his professional tryout agreement with the team.
