Faygo Movie Night in the D | Returns to Campus Martius Park! First screening is "Hidden Figures" on Saturday, July 1

Beginning July 1, Campus Martius Park will offer free outdoor screenings of award-winning films at 8 p.m. every Saturday night, through August 19 as a part of Quicken Loans Summer in the Parks, Faygo Movie Night in the D series. Family-friendly films accompanied by a pre-screening kids party include Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Moana and Sing. 


Movie watchers are asked to bring their own blankets and chairs. Popcorn and beverages are available for purchase. No outside food or beverage is permitted in the park. 

July 1: Hidden Figures – The story of a team of female African-American mathematicians who served a vital role in NASA during the early years of the U.S. space program.


July 8: Sully – On Thursday, January 15th, 2009, the world witnessed the "Miracle on the Hudson" when Captain Chesley Sullenberger, nicknamed "Sully", glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. However, even as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career.

July 15: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – The Rebel Alliance makes a risky move to steal the plans for the Death Star, setting up the epic saga to follow. All looks lost for the Rebellion against the Empire as they learn of the existence of a new super weapon, the Death Star. Once a possible weakness in its construction is uncovered, the Rebel Alliance must set out on a desperate mission to steal the plans for the Death Star. The future of the entire galaxy now rests upon its success. 


Intergalactic: A Kidz Show Party 6 p.m - 8 p.m. – Kids can explore the fun and excitement of Star Wars games, costumes, treats, and make and takes.


July 22: La La Land – A jazz pianist falls for an aspiring actress in Los Angeles. Mia, an aspiring actress, serves lattes to movie stars in between auditions and Sebastian, a jazz musician, scrapes by playing cocktail party gigs in dingy bars, but as success mounts they are 

faced with decisions that begin to fray the fragile fabric of their love affair, and the dreams they worked so hard to maintain in each other threaten to rip them apart. Written by Eirini 



July 29: No screening August 5: Moana – In Ancient Polynesia, when a terrible curse incurred by the Demigod Maui reaches an impetuous Chieftain’s daughter’s island, she answer the Ocean’s call to seek out the Demigod to set things right. 


Moana’s Treasure Hunt Adventure: A Kidz Show Party 6 p.m - 8 p.m. – Kids follow a treasure map through Campus Martius Park to uncover fun and prizes. 


August 12: Lion – A five-year old Indian boy gets lost on the streets of Calcutta, thousands of kilometers from home. He survives many challenges before being adopted by a couple in Australia; 25 years later, he sets out to find his lost family. 


August 19: Sing - presented by United Way of Southeastern Michigan – Set in a world like ours, but entirely inhabited by animals, Buster Moon, a dapper koala, presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times. Buster is an eternal, some might even say delusional-optimist, who loves his theater above all and will do anything to preserve it. Now faced with the crumbling of his life's ambition, he has one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory by producing the world's greatest singing competition. 



Shine! Discover Your Inner Star: A Kidz Show Party 6 p.m - 8 p.m. – Mosaic Youth Theatre, Matrix Theater Co., and MAC Talent Agency lead mini-classes in singing, acting, and dance.
