Matteau Added to Wolves Roster

GLENVIEW, Ill. – The Chicago Wolves announced Friday that forward Stefan Matteau joined the club’s training camp roster.

Matteau, who signed a one-year deal with the Vegas Golden Knights this summer, cleared waivers Thursday afternoon.

Born in Chicago while his father, Stéphane, was playing for the Chicago Blackhawks, the younger Matteau spent most of his youth north of the border in Canada. However, he returned to the United States and spent two seasons with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program and was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the first round, 29th overall, of the 2012 NHL Draft.

After a partial season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (2012-13), Matteau turned professional and made his debut with the New Jersey Devils on Jan. 19, 2013. In the NHL, Matteau has appeared in 56 games and recorded six points (3G, 3A).

At the AHL level, he has skated in 196 games and collected 78 points (37G, 41A). Matteau registered five points (G, 4A) through eight Calder Cup Playoff games in 2017 (4) and 2014 (4).

The Wolves wrap up their week-long training camp Saturday, Sept. 30, with a preseason game against the Milwaukee Admirals at UWM Panther Arena. Puck drop is set for 6 p.m.
